Self striping yarn and a magazine

I've finished Nora's socks and her slippers. I'll just have to remember to take some pictures, and then I'll show you.The socks on the photo are for me (I think). I very seldom knit things for myself. I wonder why - I seem to be the one who appreciate knitted gifts the most ;-) Nora often likes what I'm knitting, until she's trying it on and exlaims "it's not comfortable!". Anyway, I cast on the red socks last Thursday on the sock knitting class and I'm trying a couple of new things, like making a stronger heel. I like that the yarn is self striping, it makes so fun to knit. "Just one more row", I say.

Except for the last chapter in the Confident Birth book, I'm not reading any book at the moment. However the last issue of Craftseller arrived two days ago. I haven't had time to really sit down and read it, I've only flipped through it a couple of times, but I hope I can read it any day now. Just so many other things and daily chores came in between (and I'm so tired in the evenings, I fall asleep together with Nora before ten pm).

Slippers and a boring book

Crazy looking slippers and a very interesting book ...



You wouldn't guess, but that slipper is for Nora's little foot. Yes, it's big. It fits me. But I will put it in the washing machine together with its friend (aka the other one) and felt it. I made slippers like these to my sister for Christmas and they were huge before felting. She seems to really like them, as she asked if I could make some for her kids as well :-)

Nora's current slippers are outgrown by far, and through a hole her toe is peaking out. She still wears them.

You hear, I really need to focus on finishing the second one. She choose the colors with me in the yarn shop so there's a great chance she might actually throw away her old ones and use these. I hope they will fit. You never know excatly which size they'll come out as when felting them in the machine.

The book. It's about book-keeping and annual closing. I have a business. It's that time of the year, yes. I wouldn't have read it if I didn't have too. But, it's helpful :-)

Yarn along: wool and confident birth

This isn't what I'm actually reading. This is the book that I should be reading. I think the title in English is "Confident Birth". When Nora was born five years ago it was with a C-section, because she didn't think arriving with her head first was such a very good idea. So far, this baby seems to like the idea though. I hope it stays in this position until it's time to arrive :-)

The knitting. What to say about it. It's not so much yet. I made a pattern the other evening of a lady from a much loved child book and now I'm giving it a try knitting it in this yarn (100% wool from Swedish sheep). Maybe the wool is too thin. I'm not sure yet.

A pair of socks

Not that I have finished last week's knitting, but it's grown a bit at least. Here's another knitting I have going on. It's socks for Nora (left over yarn from the socks in knitted to my mother in law for Christmas).



Tomorrow evening I will go to a sock knitting class! I have already knitted two and a half pair of socks so I'm not a total beginner, but it'll be nice to have an hour and a half every second week devoted exclusively to knitting. (When I knit at home it's just a few minutes here and there and I almost always tell stories to Nora while knitting.)

But this is what I was knitting reading yesterday before falling asleep. The knitting is for our baby and I'm knitting this one (Ravelry link), but in Drops Lima instead of merino yarn.

too much happiness

Last night it snowed a lot and it continued during the day. We went to visit friends today, Nora and I, and I brought my latest knitting. Fingerless mittens for my sister. I didn't bring the book, but at home I'm reading "Too much happiness". Knitting and reading, that is happiness, right?

Yarn along and spring in the air

Do you knit all day long? I don't. I knit on the same thing for weeks (or years ...) because I'm into so many things. Earlier I used to believe I should try to focus on one single thing instead of trying "everything", but over the last years I've come to the conclusion that this is who I am, this is how I do things. I'd get bored if I was only doing one single thing.



So I'm knitting and crocheting. I'm sewing and selling. I'm gardening and cooking and baking. I'm photographing, I'm playing, I'm painting, I'm crafting. I'm beading. I'm ... trying new things. Re-discover old things.

At the moment I'm knitting in Malabrigo worsted, my favourite, and reading. Nora picked the flower. Vitsippa, in Swedish.

Yarn along and my socks

I finally found my sock knitting. It had fallen down behind a pile of magazines in my bookshelf. I couldn't find my printed instructions, but luckily I remembered where I found them on the internet three years ago, so I could go get them a second time. I'm pretty sure I'll not finish them now either, as I have some big plans with other knittings, but at least I was happy to find it :-)

Mittens and a favourite book

Yarn along + cake and tea and a good book

I'm a slow knitter, even when it comes to really simple knits. Not that I knit slowly, just that I'm that kind of person who get too many ideas and start too many knittings (and finish few). In November I cast on this knitting.





Cake and tea and knitting and a book. Can it be better?

(Well, there could be some chocolate too.)

The book is about Plupp, a little creature invisible to humans (except you and me, who can see him) and who can talk to animals. He lives far up in the north. We used to read those books when my sister and I were little. This one I hadn't read before (as far as I can recall). I bought it for Nora. It's about winter and we meet many animals in their winter white fur. This books is a new favourite.

Wig crocheting, sweets and too much chocolate

It's a busy mamma, it's a busy week. Today I have changed into winter tires on our car (well, I didn't do it myself, actually), so now winter can arrive any day (but please wait until the end of next week at least). I have worked a lot too, mostly with wet felting on the bathroom floor with Nora on my back, pretending I'm a horse and feeding me with imaginary hay (I'm very glad it's not real hay). Felting with a child on ones back, that's what I call heavy work.

No knitting today, but a little bit of crocheting:



I'm crocheting a wig for a doll. It's kind of boring so I make it more fun with a nice book. This one is full of sweets ... I bought it for my grandma and will give it to her later this week as Nora and I are going south on Thursday to visit some family members :)



Mmmm, polkagrisar, I love them. Peppermint. Mmm.

Unfortunately there's too much chocolate in this book. I don't like chocolate. I love chocolate. I might need a copy of this book for myself.

Yarn along in a snowy Sweden

Winter, snow, wind - it's a good company to knitting. If staying inside, that is. All Tuesday it was blowing, a lot, and snowing. Nora and Zam both love snow so poor mamma had to stay outside in that cold wind and make snow balls for both of them ;-) This is what it looked like at 3 pm. It was not as cozy as you might think.



I did cast on a new knitting, though. This one is just for me (which means I will probably finish it in 2012 or so). It's Noro, Kureyon, and it will become a leg-warmer. Two years ago I got a ball of yarn and knitted a leg-warmer. When I went to the yarn store to get more of that yarn, they were out of that color. Forever, I realised after coming back every now and then for a couple of months (and asking, of course). Spring came, and I gave up.



But having one leg-warmer is so pointless. Besides, it was getting cold outside and I started to long for two. I went back to the yarn store and asked them to pick out a ball of yarn that'd go with my one leg-warmer. Now I'm knitting the other one. To be used in 2013, maybe. And I'll probably look like a Noro version of Pippi Longstocking.

The book? I bought it last winter but haven't read it yet (and no, I'm not pregnant). It's three years ago I was pregnant and I think it's only now the book is somewhat easy for me to read. I picked it up again this morning and started reading.
